The program filled up users with advertising.

More than a million users of the popular instant messenger WhatsApp around the world, instead of updating the program, downloaded a fake that filled up their ads, reports “9 channel Israel.”

The attackers put a program called Update WhatsApp Messenger, signed by WhatsApp Inc., into the Google Play store. Everything was right, with only one difference – a space in the developer’s name was set by another “unicode” symbol. This deceived the Google robot, which did not recognize the sequence of characters as identical to an existing developer and registered the application in the repository.

After numerous complaints, the false messenger was removed from Google Play.

We will remind, on November , 3rd in work WhatsApp there was a failure . Users around the world have complained that they can not log in to the application or send a message.
